Lawsuit against 4 nursing homes allowed to continue

Lawsuit against 4 nursing homes allowed to continueA New York judge has denied a motion to dismiss a lawsuit against four nursing homes and various affiliated parties. The lawsuit, filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James, accuses the nursing homes of neglecting their residents, with call bells ignored, residents left in their own waste, and personal items frequently lost or stolen.  The suit further accuses the defendants of cheating Medicare and Medicaid out of $83 million. The nursing homes involved are Beth Abraham Center, Buffalo Center, Holliswood Center, and Martine Center. The defendants filed a motion to have the case thrown out, arguing it was filed too late and that the Attorney General did not have the right to file the suit. The defendants lost on both issues.
