A Georgia attorney was disbarred for unethical handling of settlement funds
A Georgia attorney has been disbarred for unethical handling of personal injury settlement funds in three cases. The lawyer, who led his firm and worked in sports tech, was found to have intentionally violated multiple ethics rules by misappropriating client funds for personal use and failing to promptly settle medical lien claims against his clients’ settlements.
In one case involving minor siblings, he delayed the disbursement of settlement funds and used them for personal expenses. Two other cases experienced similar issues, where he failed to pay the medical clinic owed funds after settlements were reached.
The lawyer’s misconduct included not responding to ethics complaints or the state bar’s request, leading to a default ruling against him.
