Roy Gates used to be very active, working hard and playing sports like softball and hockey. He loved taking care of his house, yard, and pool. However, he claims everything changed on April 7, 2022, when he went to Yale New Haven Hospital for surgery to remove a part of his large intestine that was causing him problems. The surgery didn’t go as planned, and now Roy is disabled and needs a wheelchair to move around. He’s filed a lawsuit against the hospital and Yale University, saying their mistakes during the surgery caused his health to get much worse. Now, Roy relies on his wife and grown-up children to help him with daily tasks.
