$32.5 Million Malpractice Settlement in Birth Injury Case

The case alleged numerous alleged medical errors at Reading Hospital in Pennsylvannia. The newborn, who is now 5, suffered permanent and catastrophic brain injuries caused by lack of oxygen and requires around-the-clock care.

The $32.5 million settlement was reached during the trial after opening arguments had been made..  It is one of the largest reported medical malpractice settlements in Pennsylvania.

In a statement published by The Reading Eagle newspaper, Reading Hospital acknowledged the settlement and said it valued the privacy of the family involved.
